makes web sites look good,
work well, and make sense.

began designing web sites thirteen years ago after a successful career as a publications designer.

Prior to moving to Maine from Washington DC, she held senior-level graphic design positions at The Washington Post, Regardie's magazine and The Baltimore Sun. Both her art direction and illustrations have won national and regional awards.

         résumé

Then, as now, much of her work has centered on editorial design for newspapers and magazines, publications for non-profit organizations, and promotion of performers and others in the arts.

Kathy's design work and illustrations have appeared on news sites and special sections for several newspapers in Canada and the US. She also designs sites for artists and writers, including opera stars Dimitri Hvorostovsky, Anna Netrebko, David Daniels, Deborah Voigt, Samuel Ramey, and Frederica von Stade; composers Steven Stucky and John Corigliano; composer/conductor Rob Kapilow; and conductor Leonard Slatkin.

Her work with writers and others in the arts includes sites for journalist and author Janine di Giovanni, journalist and art critic Carol Kino, art consultant Bettina von Hase, photographer Priscilla Rattazzi, journalist and author Emma Johnson, journalist and author W. Thomas Smith, Jr., journalist and author Charlotte Eagar, children's book author Amy MacDonald, and conservationist and author Thomas Urquhart.

Kathy is the publisher of World Defense Review, a foreign policy and military affairs journal.

She is known for thoughtful and clean web site design - for making each site understandable, easy to navigate, accessible and memorable. She is passionate about typography, intuitive site structure, interactivity, usability and accessibility.

She has excellent photo editing skills, good copy editing skills and, as would any good designer, pays close attention to the details.

She seeks clients who understand the value of good design as a way to both serve and impact each site's visitors.
